May 2009, EJC IT Patch Update
07 May 2009

Microsoft today detailed plans to ship one security bulletin for software vulnerabilities in the Microsoft Office affecting PowerPoint.

Rated “critical”, meaning that it will address flaws that could allow remote code execution attacks, it affects all supported versions of Microsoft Office PowerPoint from Office 2000 SP3 to Office 2007 SP2.

ZDNet reports that one month ago, hackers started using rigged PowerPoint files to launch targeted attacks to this exploit.

Operational note: Bulletin may require a restart after deployment.
